Trilogies don’t only exist in the realm of epic tales. You’re also living your personal trilogy and it comes in the form of goals, definition, and business. How exactly? Well, read this post to learn more!
We all want to get somewhere. We all have a dream of becoming or doing something great. Unfortunately unlike in the real world, it’s not as easy as putting directions into your GPS. So what’s the trilogy you need to be living in order to get what you want?
As someone who felt lost and trapped, and had no idea what kind of hill they needed to climb in order to live an epic tale. I found that taking these steps allowed me to find my feet and overcome my obstacles.
It’s not as complicated or as mysterious as you think and it all starts with looking at your goals your definition and your business in a new light. Once you’re able to create a relationship and have an understanding of these three terms you’ll be able to make it through the battlefield of life.
This post is all about the ultimate trilogy that makes up your personal origin story: Goals Definition Business.
Goals Definition Business
Definition
Our life is all about meaning. If something doesn’t mean anything to you, then it has no purpose. So your purpose or what you should do with your life is found in meaning because that’s what gives you a purpose or goal. This is by far one of the simplest and most complex ideas of all time.
To break it down even more think of this question. Where does meaning exist for you?
Is there something that matters to you? Pay attention to it and let it guide you when you’re making decisions in your life. Doing this will allow you to define how you want to live. Let’s say you’re having trouble figuring out what’s important to you.
Ask yourself these questions to get on the right track:
- What do you want your life to look like?
- What looks like the perfect job?
- What jobs, tasks, or hobbies will lead you to that ideal job?
Now I know sometimes we may not be able to specifically label or define what we want and that’s ok. It’s a process. Sometimes you don’t even know what your options are or where to look. If you find yourself in that scenario then ask yourself these questions:
- How do you want to feel?
- What do you currently do that makes you feel that way?
- Can you do more of it? And if you can’t, figure out what you need to change in your life so that isn’t so.
If you find yourself unable to answer these questions. Then it may be that there’s something blocking you from finding your meaning. Usually, if nothing matters to us it’s because something has imprisoned us and won’t allow us to feel anything else. In other words, you’re sad and you can’t stop feeling sad. So see if the questions below can assist you in finding the culprit.
- What do you do most during a typical day?
- Is someone else prouder than you are of yourself?
- Do you feel guilty when you smile?
Answering these questions will guide you down the rabbit hole of your life. You either know what you want or you don’t. And if you don’t know what you want it’s because you’re spending your time and energy helping someone else with what they want.
That’s the first step in any amazing story. Finding where paradise is and making your way there or discovering who the villain is and then defeating them.
We all need to spend time with ourselves so we can figure out what different things mean to us and why. It may seem scary or unnecessary but everything begins with meaning. So figure out your ultimate definition of life and use these questions to get you started.
Goals
After answering those questions you now know what you want. So make them into actual goals. A wish is an unspoken desire but a wish that is connected to a goal can become a plan of action. And a plan is the only way things get done on purpose. It’s the only way you’re able to choose your future.
There are a ton of different types of goals. The most organized and achievable way of looking at them is as follows:
- Set up mini goals that will lead to your ultimate dream. Don’t have one massive goal that you have no idea how to take on.
- Create benchmarks of progress for yourself. No one just loses 100 pounds. First, they lose 5 then 10, and then so on. Allow yourself to celebrate every milestone, no matter how small it may seem. Progress is progress.
- Decide when and where this will take you. Every small goal achieved leads to another one. Have an idea of this overall path so you’re able to see how much you’ve done and how much is left for you to conquer.
I’ve always been a big dreamer but like Pixar’s movie Soul you realize the activity, no matter where you are, is always the same. It’s about getting more aligned or becoming better at doing something that matters to you. These goals will only allow you to become better and greater at what matters to you.
Also, make sure to enjoy this process. In the past, my goals were aimed so high that I didn’t even try to pursue them. Also if you forget the joy you have for the task you’ll soon see your goals as chores that only lead to a broken heart. Make sure your goals are right for you by answering the questions below:
- Do your goals scare you or excite you? They should excite you, not terrify you into paralysis.
- Where did your goal come from? You don’t want to chase industry standards. You want to chase the experiences you’d like to live.
- Can you complete it by the end of the year? Plan smaller if this is not the case. Remember micro goals lead to big accomplishments.
At the end of the day, your goal should make your heart sing and bring a level of peace into your life. That is real joy and meaning. Eventually, you’ll come to a point where you’ll see that the only real obstacle is yourself and your mind. Everything is achievable and once you reach your first goal you’ll want to do it again and again.
Remember superman didn’t just beat one bad guy. He saved people and himself again and again.
Business
We live in a world driven by business. Globalization has allowed us all to connect and profit from each other’s work. Now I am not talking about exploration. Unfortunately, that has also occurred. But I’d like to focus on the fact that because of globalization we have more food options, more services, and more opportunities to live the life we’ve chosen to live.
So your definition of life has led you to your goals and now your goals will lead you to what kind of business you’d like to get into. More specifically:
- What do you have to do daily to live the life you want?
- What do you have to do daily to live the life you’d like to live later?
Once you answer those questions figure out how this can serve others and then you’ll know what business you’re in. We do not live in a vacuum. We all live on the same planet together and once you’ve figured out what role your puzzle piece you’d like to play, then you’ll be able to help yourself and others. Nothing in life is a sacrifice if there’s a point to it. Your sacrifices are a part of the story of your life.
This post was all about Goals Definition Business and how these three things make up the ultimate trilogy. AKA the story of your life.
